Learn Rapier with Martin Fabian, Part 2 -Footwork!

by Meg Floyd

Part two of Martin Fabian’s lovely new rapier and dagger instructional series. Check it out below. Remember to keep him motivated by giving him feedback. As for this episode, I’ll let Martin speak for himself:

“If there was a myth about historical fencing that we should debunk and get rid of in the first place, it certainly would be the concept of HEMA being slow, clumsy, and laborious. And that is not true. Often it serves as but an excuse to people who are lazy to do some proper practice.”

So You Want To Learn Italian Rapier… Part 2 (Or Martin Fabian’s Fabulous Rapier Video Series)

by Meg Floyd

If the community needs anything right now, it’s more videos with solid interpretations and good mechanics of the manuals. Not terribly long after we published the last article, by happy coincidence Martin Fabian, a marvelous instructor from Slovakia, has published the first video in what I hope will be a long and regular video series on Italian rapier. (Hint: give him some love on YouTube so he’ll continue!)

Here’s the first video on cuts. His next promised video will be on footwork exercises. I’ll be posting every video that comes out on this blog, but you should subscribe to his YouTube channel if you want to make sure you get the videos.
